How to use measurement charts

  1. 1Big to small: multiply. To change feet to inches, multiply by 12. 3 feet = 3 × 12 = 36 inches.
  2. 2Small to big: divide. To change cups to pints, divide by 2. 8 cups = 8 ÷ 2 = 4 pints.
  3. 3Build the gallon man. Draw a big G. Inside it, 4 Qs. In each Q, 2 Ps. In each P, 2 Cs. Count the Cs: 16 cups in a gallon.
  4. 4Metric is all tens. Every metric step is a power of ten: 10 millimeters in a centimeter, 100 centimeters in a meter, 1,000 meters in a kilometer.
