Printable for kids

Three packs of six mazes, from wide picture mazes for kindergarten to big, tricky mazes for 5th grade. Every maze has one path from start to finish, and every pack ends with an answer key.

Tips for mazes

  1. Trace with a finger first. Then draw the line in pencil once the path is found.
  2. Work backwards. If a maze is hard, start from the finish. It often looks easier that way.
  3. Mark dead ends. A small cross at each dead end stops the same mistake twice.
  4. Slip it in a sleeve. A plastic sleeve and a dry-erase marker make each maze reusable.

Common questions

Which maze is right for my child?

Easy mazes suit kindergarten and 1st grade: wide paths and only a few turns. Medium mazes suit 1st and 2nd grade, and the hard mazes, with long paths and many dead ends, suit 3rd to 5th grade.

What do mazes help children learn?

Mazes build pencil control, planning and visual tracking. Children learn to look ahead, spot dead ends and try again, which is good practice for problem solving.

Is there only one way through?

Yes. Each maze has exactly one path from start to finish, so the answer key shows the only solution.

Can I copy these mazes for my class?

Yes. The PDFs are free to print and photocopy for classroom and home use, in color or in the black-and-white ink saver. Please link to this page rather than re-uploading the files.
