Lowercase d, step by step

  1. 1Start a little below the midline and curve back around like a c, closing the circle at the midline.
  2. 2Keep going straight up to the top line.
  3. 3Slide back down the same line to the baseline and finish with a small swing up.

Capital D, step by step

  1. 1Start at the top line and slide down a slanted stem to the baseline.
  2. 2Make a small loop at the bottom and carry on to the right along the baseline.
  3. 3Curve all the way up and around to the top line, and back over to the left.

Watch for: Making the stem too short, so d looks like a. The stem of d reaches the top line.

Joining: Lowercase d finishes on the baseline with a small swing up, and that swing carries straight on into the next letter.
