Learn while you color
Alphabet and number coloring pages: bubble letters and numbers, letter hunts, counting and tracing.
Color by code
Color by number, color by addition and color by sight word, with a page of finished pictures to check.
Five ways to use them
- Quiet time. One page and a box of crayons at the start of the day, or after lunch.
- Letter of the week. Pair an alphabet coloring page with that letter’s worksheets.
- Count and color. The number pages ask children to count the pictures and color a ten frame to match.
- Early finishers. Keep a stack of color by number pages for children who finish work early.
- Talk about it. Ask what the animal eats, where it lives or what sound it makes while they color.
Common questions
Are these coloring pages free?
Yes. Every pack is a free PDF to print and copy for classroom and home use. Please link to this page rather than re-uploading the files.
What age are they for?
The theme pages and the alphabet and number pages suit preschool to 2nd grade: big pictures with thick lines that small hands can stay inside. Color by number and color by sight word suit kindergarten and 1st grade, and color by addition practices sums within 10.
What do I need to print them?
Plain letter-size paper is fine. For markers or paint, a heavier paper (card stock) stops the color soaking through. Each pack also comes as a black-and-white ink saver.
How does color by number work?
Each part of the picture has a number. The key at the top shows which crayon goes with each number. The last page shows every picture finished, so children can check their colors.
How do coloring pages help children learn?
Coloring builds the small hand muscles and pencil grip that handwriting needs, and staying inside the lines trains control. The alphabet and number pages add letter and number recognition, and every theme page has the word to trace.
