Lowercase f, step by step

  1. 1Start on the baseline and swing up to the top line.
  2. 2Loop to the left and slide straight down, past the baseline.
  3. 3Make a loop at the bottom that curves to the right and comes back up to the baseline.
  4. 4Tie it off at the baseline with a small swing up.

Capital F, step by step

  1. 1Start at the top line and make a wavy line across to the right.
  2. 2Lift your pencil. From the middle of the wave, curve down to the baseline and back up a little to the left.
  3. 3Cross the stem with a short line at the midline.

Watch for: Making the bottom loop too small. Lowercase f reaches from the top line to below the baseline, and its bottom loop closes at the baseline.

Joining: Lowercase f finishes on the baseline with a small swing up, and that swing carries straight on into the next letter.
