What your child will practice
Where the sound is helps you spell it. oy and ay usually come at the end of a word. Use oi and ai at the start or in the middle. Right after a short vowel, use dge or tch: badge, catch. After a long vowel or a consonant, use ge or ch: cage, lunch. The pack follows CCSS L.2.2d: Generalize learned spelling patterns when writing words (e.g., cage → badge; boy → boil).

The rule
The rule- Where the sound is helps you spell it.
- oy and ay usually come at the end of a word.
- Use oi and ai at the start or in the middle.
- Right after a short vowel, use dge or tch: badge, catch.

Is it right for my child?
It is written for 2nd grade and follows CCSS L.2.2d: Generalize learned spelling patterns when writing words (e.g., cage → badge; boy → boil). It also works for a strong 1st grader or as review in 3rd grade.
What is inside?

What paper size is it?
US Letter (8.5 x 11 inches). It also prints well on A4 with "fit to page" turned on.
Can I use it with my class?
Yes. Print as many copies as your own children or your own class need. Please do not share the file itself or post it online.
