Ideas for what to type
- Names: a child’s own name is the most motivating thing to learn in cursive, and it needs the capitals.
- This week’s spelling words: handwriting and spelling practice in one sheet.
- Letter pairs that join awkwardly: for example br, os, ve and wh, which join at the midline.
- Copywork: a short sentence from a class reader or a science topic.
Common questions
Is the cursive worksheet generator free?
Yes, completely. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on how many sheets you make. The PDF is built in your browser, so your text never leaves your computer.
Can I make a cursive name tracing worksheet?
Yes. Type the name on the first line (add the surname on the next line if you like), choose "Trace twice" for younger writers or "Trace, then write" once the letters are familiar, and download. Capital letters come out in cursive capitals.
Do the letters join up?
Yes. Each word is written in joined-up cursive, the way children are taught to write it, with a wider gap between words so each word is easy to see and copy.
What is the difference between the three practice styles?
"Trace, then write" gives a gray line to trace and an empty line below it. "Trace twice" gives two gray lines, for children still learning the shapes. "Copy from a model" gives one colored model line and two empty lines, for children ready to write on their own.
How much text fits?
Up to 12 lines of up to 60 characters. Long lines wrap onto the next row at a space, and extra pages are added automatically.
